Kruger Shalati Retains Two MICHELIN Keys for 2026

Once Is Remarkable. Twice Says Something More.

In 2025, Kruger Shalati: The Train on the Bridge was awarded Two MICHELIN Keys in the MICHELIN Guide’s first hotel selection to include Africa. In 2026, we are immensely proud to have retained them.

That second recognition carries a particular weight.

The MICHELIN Key recognises the world’s most outstanding stays, with hotels assessed across criteria that reach far beyond traditional ideas of luxury: architecture and design, quality and consistency of service, character and personality, value, and a meaningful connection to place. Two MICHELIN Keys signify “an exceptional stay.”

For Kruger Shalati, there is another distinction that makes this recognition particularly meaningful: we remain the only property within the Kruger National Park to hold MICHELIN Keys.

In a destination celebrated around the world for extraordinary safari experiences, that places Shalati in a unique position. It recognises not simply where we are, but what has been created here and, importantly, how that experience is delivered.

Because place alone cannot create an exceptional stay.

Ours may begin with an extraordinary setting: a historic train suspended above the Sabie River, Bridge House nestled alongside it, wildlife moving through the landscape below, and the story of early rail travel into the Kruger National Park reimagined for a new generation.

But the experience lives in much more.

It is in the warmth of a welcome, the knowledge of a guide, the care behind every plate, the quiet attention to detail and the people who bring Shalati to life each day.

To receive Two MICHELIN Keys once was an extraordinary honour.

To retain them is an affirmation of something deeper: that while every stay is different, the standard behind it remains.

Two MICHELIN Keys. Once again.

And still, unmistakably, Kruger Shalati.
