We Answer Your FAQs

At Kruger Shalati, every traveller arrives with a sense of wonder, and a few questions too. From how to get here to what to expect between sunrise game drives and starlit dinners, we’re answering some of our most frequently asked questions.

How do I get to Kruger Shalati?

The journey to us should feel like part of the story – effortless, scenic, and unforgettable.
The simplest route is to fly straight into Skukuza Airport, where the African sky meets a runway carved into wilderness. Included in your stay are complimentary airport transfers by OSV – the perfect way to start your holiday with a mini-game drive through the park en route to your home away from home above the Sabie River.

Prefer the slow unfurling of a road trip? You’re welcome to self-drive or transfer in from anywhere in South Africa, letting the landscapes shift from city edges to bushveld horizons.

Do you offer spa treatments?

Yes – and they’re crafted for the soul.
Our spa experiences are offered exclusively to overnight guests and can be booked any time during your stay. Speak to your Camp Manager to explore the menu and book a treatment either in-room or on our Northern Deck. Whether you’re seeking deep rest, gentle restoration, or a moment suspended in stillness, our therapists will guide you back into balance.

Can I dine at the restaurant if I’m not staying overnight?

Our restaurant is a treasured sanctuary for guests who sleep under our roof – or rather, on our bridge.
For this reason, dining is reserved exclusively for overnight guests, ensuring every meal retains the intimacy, rhythm, and tranquillity that define the Shalati experience.

Are game drives included?

They absolutely are.
Every stay includes two expertly guided game drives each day. One at first light when the world awakens, and one at dusk when the bush softens into its golden lullaby. These are the bookends of your Shalati day: wild, sensory, and unforgettable.

Is room service available?

Of course.
If you’d prefer a quiet morning in your robe or a slow, private sundowner on your deck, simply speak to your Camp Manager. In-room dining is available throughout your stay, allowing you to savour the flavours of Kruger without leaving your sanctuary.

Should I bring my own binoculars?

Only if you’d like to.
We offer binoculars for rent, ensuring you don’t miss a single moment – from elephants grazing along the riverbed to lilac-breasted rollers flashing their colours in the treetops.

What can I do during the day between game drives?

This is your time and Shalati invites you to make it your own.
Spend your midday hours as you please:

  • sink into a spa treatment,
  • stretch out beside the pool,
  • browse treasures in our boutique,
  • birdwatch from the deck,
  • take a gentle nap,
  • or disappear into a book as the river drifts below.

The day belongs to you.

Are the pools heated?

Our pools are not heated – they are honest to the climate and beautifully refreshing.
In winter, the warm Lowveld sun does a wonderful job of taking the edge off the water, and with Kruger’s mild, pleasant winter temperatures, most guests still enjoy a dip with a view unlike any other.
