JOB DESCRIPTION
A new and unique luxury hotel in Skukuza is seeking a Maintenance Manager. The hotel is situated in a unique setting in one of the world’s most iconic national parks – with lions, leopards and elephants as your neighbours – if this excites you, this might just be your dream job.
The successful candidate must be an all-round hands on person who will be able to independently run the maintenance department. The successful candidate must be self-disciplined, qualified in the maintenance of electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, carpentry etc. Experience is crucial for this role. The successful candidate should also be able to do administrative duties, as financial planning & preventative maintenance planning form part of the duties for this role.


PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Must have at least 5 years experience as a Maintenance Manager in a similar sized operation.

  • Must be experienced/qualified in at least one of the following disciplines:
    * Electrical (single & three phase)
    * Refrigeration & Air-conditioning
  • and have general experience in the following:
    * plumbing, building & general maintenance
  • Must have experience working at heights

KEY OUTPUTS

You will assist in all the maintenance on site including plumbing, electrical (domestic), refrigeration and air conditioning, building, carpentry and general maintenance.

  • You would be required to assist in planning the preventative maintenance program.
  • You will endeavour to keep a par stock of spares that will allow you to affect emergency and other repairs efficiently.
  • You would be responsible for your budget lines and report monthly on these.
  • You will ensure that tools and spares are neatly stored and packed away.
  • You will perform a stock take of tools from time to time & report any shortfalls to the general manager.
  • Must adhere to World Class Hospitality and Service Standards
  • Maintain open communication channels with the hotel general manager or operations manager a managers and ensure that clear feedback loops are in place to ensure that status reports on problems are fed back to those who report them
  • Will have a morning meeting with maintenance staff and make sure that good team work exists and that systems and procedures are adhered to
  • Professional, courteous, hospitable to guests
  • Ensure that when interacting with guests in the hotel environment that you are well presented, friendly and courteous.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

All areas of general hotel maintenance

  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Aircon maintenance
  • Generator management
  • Maintaining the roads around the property
  • Vehicle management and maintenance
  • English / Tsonga would be an advantage

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATION

  • Grage 12 and mechanical/electrical qualification or similar
  • OHS training or knowledge
  • Environmental training and or knowledge

This is a permanent live-in position.
Transport to/from leave cycles is the successful candidates own responsibility.
